Leading up to Easter time, our church is going through the book of John and creating a profile of who Jesus Is. During this time everyone in our church is encouraged to write down the various attributes they find of Jesus in their readings, brings them to church on Sunday, and then we will write them on a giant chalkboard painted wall behind our front stage.
In the short time that we have been doing this together, I can attest that it has been meaningful for me. Currently, I have an Evernote file open where my profile of Jesus is being created. Each time I come to a verse that says something about Jesus I mark both the attribute and the verse number. For instance, this morning I read Matthew 9 and in doing so I discovered Jesus is Omniscient (4); A Sin Forgiver (6, 35); A Healer (22); Has authority over demons (33); An Evangelist (35).
I am convinced that the key to having confidence in times of uncertainty is by refreshing our souls in the realization of who Jesus is. Only through understanding who Jesus is can we possibly realize who we are and why we were placed on this earth.
If you are not currently on a Scripture reading plan, I would encourage you to spend the next several weeks and create your own profile of who you discover Jesus to be through his word.
