Are you Petty or are you Pretty? The only difference between the two words is a R but the difference between the two meanings is huge. You could say, are you filled with Self or are you filled with Christ? The petty person focuses on their own opinions, feelings and priorities. Their promotion is most important. Their ego fills the room. The Biblical motto's "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" and "turn the other cheek" are practices they demand to receive but seldom employ. The petty person forgets their own flaws and faults and magnifies the failures of others. A petty person is easily offended. Proverbs 19:11 says, "A man's wisdom gives him patience, it is to his glory to overlook an offense." Pretty people have thick skin! The Pretty person is a team player. The ultimate goal of the group receives more attention than their own ego. They see the big picture and understand that fulfillment happens best when the team wins. Their own personal accomplishments are connected to God's plans for them not their own self promotion. When choosing a team it is the Pretty person that gets picked every time. I Corinthians 13: 4-8 tells us that love keeps no record of wrong, is patient, is kind, is not proud, does not boast. The Pretty person carries a tube of TLC ointment with them at all times. They treat others with Tender, Love, and Compassion. A selfless person is seldom Petty and a selfish person is seldom Pretty. You can't long fake the Biblical model of Pretty. It only comes from a proper view of ourselves and a Godly view of others. God help me and you have the pure Beauty of Heaven in our countenance and not the Pasty make up of Self!
